How to generate a video
Generating a video is simple! Just add your prompt to the search bar, select a Search Mode and hit enter. A few steps and minutes later your video will be ready!
Once the video has been generated you will see the options to Share, Download, or Regenerate the video.
If you're using Comet browser you can ask Assistant to publish the video to various sites, like your X or Facebook account (see use cases below as examples).

Perplexity's video generation uses advanced AI models optimized for different subscription tiers:
Pro & Max subscribers: Veo 3.1 for efficient video generation

Can I choose what model is used for video generation?
No, users cannot choose the model for video generation. The assigned model and quality are automatically determined by your subscription level to ensure optimal performance and resource allocation.
Can I edit generated videos?
No, video editing or iteration on previously generated videos is not supported. Once a video is generated, it cannot be modified or edited within Perplexity.
How many videos can I generate?
We are unable to provide exact numbers, but your current plan includes usage limits designed to keep the platform fast and reliable for all users. Max subscribers receive the highest number of video generation credits each month, while Pro users are allocated a smaller amount. These rate limits may be adjusted periodically.
At present, there is no option to purchase additional credits; once you’ve used your monthly allocation, you’ll need to wait for credits to replenish on a rolling 30-day basis.
Please note: Perplexity Max subscribers still enjoy extended access to search, research, and create files and apps queries – ideal for advanced users.
What are the length and format of generated videos?
Max, Pro, Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max subscribers: Each video is up to 8 seconds long, may include audio through Veo 3.1.
Where is video generation available?
Video generation is launching across Web, iOS, and Android platforms. It is available across all Perplexity modes, including Search, Research, and Create files and apps.
Why did my video not generate?
Sometimes video generation may fail due to content moderation limits and/or copyright issues (you will see a message explaining why the prompt failed). In this case you can tweak your prompt (make it more generic) and try again.
Can I turn a photo into a video?
Yes, you can upload an image attachment to your query to have it be used as the starting frame for your video. The video generation tool can currently only take a single image as an input, and that image will always be used as the first frame of the generated video.
Are there any additional features with video generation?
Integration with Comet Assistant allows actions like posting generated videos to social media or uploading them to websites on your behalf.
With Create files and apps, you can generate multiple videos at once as part of a larger project.
