Connecting Perplexity with Guidepoint

The Guidepoint connector lets eligible users connect Perplexity to the Guidepoint MCP, so they can ask questions that are answered from Guidepoint's compliance-reviewed library of expert interview transcripts. This includes firsthand knowledge from executives, key-opinion leaders, and industry professionals across hundreds of sectors.

The connector is built on Guidepoint's Authorized Partner Integration for MCP and requires a Guidepoint360 account that has been entitled for MCP access in addition to the core Library subscription. Once connected, Perplexity can search Guidepoint's expert transcript library and return relevant Q&A excerpts with additional metadata and full citations back to the source transcript on Guidepoint360.

Typical uses include:

  • On-the-ground market intelligence and channel checks

  • Investment and market diligence

  • Product and adoption research

  • Practitioner perspectives not available in public filings, news, or sell-side reports

What you need before you start

  • A Perplexity account with access to Connectors.

  • An active Guidepoint Library subscription.

  • A Guidepoint360 account that has been enabled for Guidepoint MCP access. MCP access must be enabled by Guidepoint before you can use it.

  • Your Guidepoint360 login credentials.

MCP access is requested through your Guidepoint Representative. If you already use Guidepoint but do not have MCP access enabled, contact your Sales Representative or Account Manager to request enablement and discuss commercials.

If you are not currently a Guidepoint client, reach out to sales@guidepoint.com or visit guidepoint.com/mcp to learn more about Guidepoint MCP access.

How to activate it

  1. Open Perplexity.

  2. Go to Settings. You can find Settings under your organization icon in the bottom-left corner of the Perplexity web app.

  3. Open the Connectors settings page.

  4. Search for Guidepoint.

  5. Click the Guidepoint connector tile.

  6. Click Add or Enable.

  7. You will be redirected to sign in to Guidepoint360. Sign in using your Guidepoint360 credentials.

  8. Approve the authorization request to allow Perplexity to query the Guidepoint MCP on your behalf.

  9. After the Guidepoint login finishes, return to Perplexity.

  10. Confirm that the Guidepoint connector shows as connected.

Trying it out

Once Guidepoint is connected, start a new query in Perplexity and use Guidepoint as a source.

You can do this in either of these ways:

  1. Type @Guidepoint in your query.

  2. Click the + icon in the search box, open Connectors and sources, and select Guidepoint.

Then ask a research question that should benefit from expert calls. A few examples:

"Find expert commentary on the mid-market cloud accounting software space"

"GLP-1 adoption and payer coverage trends from recent expert calls"

"Channel checks on enterprise Copilot rollout and prompt-training challenges"

Tips for better results:

  • State the topic or comparison directly. The connector ranks excerpts based on the topic of your question.

  • Add specific company, product, or ticker names when you want results scoped to a particular entity.

  • For comparisons across distinct companies, it often works better to ask about each one separately and then compare.

Using the Guidepoint MCP Skill

Guidepoint provides a Skill package that helps AI assistants use the Guidepoint MCP server more effectively, including searching expert insights, citing sources, and summarizing commentary clearly. Full details are in Guidepoint's MCP developer docs.

You can download the Skill package (a .zip file) from Guidepoint's GitHub repository as guidepoint-transcript-search.zip.

Important: Before using the Skill, make sure the Guidepoint MCP connector is already set up and connected (see How to activate it above). The Skill helps the AI assistant use Guidepoint MCP more effectively, but it does not connect to MCP on its own.

What is included

The .zip file contains:

  • SKILL.md, the main instruction file for the AI assistant.

  • Supporting files, if applicable, that provide additional usage patterns and examples.

Add the Skill to Perplexity Computer

To use the Guidepoint MCP Skill in Perplexity Computer:

  1. Download the .zip file from the GitHub link above.

  2. Open Perplexity Computer.

  3. Go to Customize > Skills.

  4. Click + Create skill.

  5. Select Upload a skill.

  6. Upload the Skill .zip file.

  7. Make sure the Skill is enabled under My skills.

  8. Make sure your Guidepoint MCP connector is configured in Customize > Connectors.

  9. Start a new conversation.

  10. Type /guidepoint-transcript-search.

  11. Select the Skill, then enter your research question.

Troubleshooting

I do not see the Guidepoint connector

Check that you are on the correct Perplexity account and organization. If you are in an Enterprise organization, your administrator may also need to enable the connector for your organization.

I can sign in to Guidepoint360, but the connector does not work

Guidepoint MCP access must be enabled by Guidepoint and is separate from a standard Guidepoint360 account. Contact your Guidepoint Representative to confirm that MCP access is enabled for your account, and that you have an active Guidepoint Library subscription.

My Guidepoint login fails

Make sure you are signing in with the Guidepoint360 credentials for the account that was granted MCP access. If your organization uses one-time passcodes, each passcode is single-use and time-limited, so request a new one if needed. For login help, contact your Sales Representative or Account Manager, or email Guidepoint support at support@guidepoint.com.

I connected Guidepoint, but answers are not using it

Start a new query and make sure Guidepoint is selected as a source. You can use @Guidepoint in the query or select Guidepoint from Connectors and sources.

My search returns no results or only loosely related excerpts

Highly niche or emerging topics may have limited coverage in the transcript library. Try a broader or more general formulation of the topic, or rephrase to focus on the core theme first.

Rate limits and usage

For questions about rate limits, query quotas, or usage expectations, contact your Guidepoint Representative. Guidepoint provides guidance based on the terms of your contract.

Legal and agreements

Any required agreements related to MCP access are handled directly between Guidepoint and the client. Reach out to your Guidepoint Sales Representative or Account Manager if you have questions.
