For Enterprise users, Internal Knowledge Search integrates your organization’s internal files with Perplexity’s search capabilities, enhancing collaboration and productivity within your team.

How does Internal Knowledge Search work for Enterprise users?
Enterprise users can use internal knowledge from Projects and supported File Connectors. During the organization file repository migration, existing organization files remain available until October 1, 2026.

Projects: Add a curated set of files to a Project and share the Project with the people who should use those files. Project files follow the Project’s permissions and are separate from the organization file repository.

File Connectors: Search content that remains in a supported cloud-storage service. Connector access follows the permissions of the connected account.
Insights from internal files include citations so you can identify the source. Whether a cited file can be opened or downloaded depends on the file’s source permissions and your organization’s settings.
Moving away from organization files
The organization file repository is separate from files in Projects, personal repositories, session attachments, and connector-synced files. Only the organization file repository is being retired.
Download every organization file you need by October 1, 2026. After downloading, add curated copies to a Project or connect the supported service where the source files live. Files remaining in the organization file repository after the deadline will be deleted. Follow the steps in Download and move your organization files.
How do I select sources for my search?

Click “Choose sources” in your search bar.

Choose from the following options:

Web: Perplexity will only use sources from the internet to generate answers

Org Files: During the migration period, Perplexity uses information in your organization’s file repository. This source is being retired.

Web + Org Files: During the migration period, Perplexity uses both web sources and your organization’s file repository. The Org Files part of this option is being retired.

None: Deselect both Web and Org Files if you want Perplexity to respond without using external sources.

Why don’t I see Focus in Perplexity’s search bar?
For Enterprise users, Focus has been replaced with Choose sources, allowing you to use Internal Knowledge Search by selecting between Web, Org Files, Web + Org Files, or None.
Who can access the uploaded files?

Existing organization files remain available during the migration period according to your organization’s permissions. Download the files your organization needs by October 1, 2026; files remaining after that date will be deleted.

Only the creator of the project and invited collaborators can access and use the files uploaded to that Project.

What file types are supported?
Perplexity supports the following file types for Internal Knowledge Search:

Note: While PNG and JPEG files are not supported for Internal Knowledge Search, you can still use these image files by attaching them directly to your query. Simply drag and drop them into Perplexity’s search bar.
For video files, we transcribe the audio to enable indexing.
Each file can be up to 50 MB in size.
How are titles and summaries generated for my files?
Titles and summaries for your uploaded files are auto-generated through a language model (LLM). While this helps provide a quick overview of your files, these titles and summaries may contain inaccuracies. If you notice any errors, please refer to the original file content for accurate information.
