Personal Subscriptions

Paused subscriptions happen when a user has been notified that they’re required to add a payment card, and have not added one within a week of notification. Since no valid payment method was added within this window, your account was automatically downgraded to the free tier.

If my subscription is free, why do I have to add a card?

Promotional subscriptions require a valid credit card for account verification — you won't be charged during your promotional period.

How to restore your promotional access:

You can reactivate your promotion immediately by adding a valid credit card. You'll keep your original promotional period, and adding a card resumes your benefits from where you left off—though any missed days during the pause won't be made up. You won't be charged until after your promotional period ends.

  1. Sign in to your Perplexity account at perplexity.ai (desktop only)

  2. Navigate to Account → Manage Subscription or select the prompt asking to update your billing information

  3. Add a payment method (Note: For users located in India, only credit or debit cards from Visa, MasterCard, or AMEX are accepted.)

If you’ve added a card but your subscription has not been restored and you’re being asked to purchase a Perplexity Enterprise subscription:

This happens when you create an Enterprise organization by accident. To restore your promotional subscription, you will need to delete your organization.

To delete an Enterprise organization:

  1. Log in to Perplexity.ai on the web

  2. Go to Settings (bottom left account menu)

  3. Click Organization in the sidebar

  4. Scroll to the bottom and click Delete under the "Delete organization" section

  5. Click Confirm

Note: You will lose access to any Threads and Spaces created while part of the organization. If that happens, or if you’re unable to delete the organization, contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
