Enterprise file limits

A comprehensive guide for Enterprise users to file storage limits across Threads, Spaces, and organizational repositories

Our Enterprise Pro and Max plans support several ways to store and share files for organization-wide and team collaboration, as well as individual reference. Limits vary depending on where the files live, and they apply to each individual account, unless otherwise indicated.

Here’s a clear breakdown so teams can plan confidently.

These limits apply to Enterprise Pro and Max accounts only. Perplexity Pro and Max users may encounter different file limits.

Where do limits apply?

Threads

Enterprise users can attach up to 30 files (up to 50MB) per upload on Threads. This keeps Threads responsive while still letting teams bring plenty of context into a single conversation.

Files can be uploaded directly from local storage to a Thread, or imported from third party applications through Connectors. On each query, only one file upload method—and only one online storage service—can be used at a time. Additionally, up to 4 images can be attached per query.

Files uploaded to Threads are retained for 7 days and deleted after.

Organization file repository

Administrators can upload up to 500 files up to 50MB each to the organization’s shared repository. This is a single, organization-wide limit and does not increase with additional admins. Organization files are company-wide resources that anyone in the organization may rely on, and they’re used by Internal Knowledge Search to answer questions. Files in the organization repository persist until they’re deleted.

Spaces

Spaces owned by Enterprise Pro users support up to 500 files up to 50MB each, while those owned by Enterprise Max users support up to 5,000 files. These limits include files uploaded from both local and third party applications.

Files uploaded to Spaces from connected apps (Google Drive, SharePoint, OneDrive, Box, and Dropbox) can be searched by anyone with access to those Spaces, but users will require permissions on the appropriate connected apps to view file contents.

Personal repository

Each Enterprise Pro user can upload up to 5,000 files (up to 50MB) from connected apps to their personal repository, while Enterprise Max users can upload up to 10,000 files. These files can be referenced by the user that uploaded them from personal and shared Threads.

Files in users’ personal repositories cannot be accessed by other team members, unless they’re used in shared Threads, where other users can see responses that reference these files. They will still require permissions on the appropriate connected apps to view the full file contents.

Individual limits

Enterprise Pro and Max users can attach up to 30 files (up to 50MB each) to a single Thread, up to to a maximum of 100 per week (Enterprise Pro) or 1,000 per week (Enterprise Max).

Enterprise Pro users can upload or synchronize up to 5,000 files in their personal repository, while Enterprise Max users can synchronize up to 10,000 files.

There is an additional limit of 15,000 total files across personal repository and Spaces for Enterprise Pro users (50,000 for Enterprise Max users), which includes uploaded files and those synchronized through Connectors. Files uploaded to Threads do not count towards this limit.
